The Mission Hasn't Changed

August 17, 2014

Reagan Farris

Luke 5:1-11, Acts 11:11-30

Our mission hasn't changed since Christ called us to make disciples of all nations.  Guest Speaker Reagan Farris delivers a message that challenged believers to step out of the church and engage our community by loving them.

Luke 5:1-11 (ESV)

Three Defining Marks of a Disciple:

1. Knows and Follows Jesus

2. Is being changed by Jesus

3. Is committed to the mission of Jesus.

Acts 11:11-30

Lessons Learned from the Legacy of Antioch

  1. Someone must cross the cultural/social and any other boundaries that separate the unreached people from the gospel.

  2. Don’t’ wait to be forced out by persecution.

  3. When you follow God into his mission, his hand will be with you!

  4. Be willing to seve a work that God has already begun.

  5. The main prerequisite for God’s work is not great gifts but great grace!

  6. When you sense God’s leading, recruit others to go with you.

  7. In all your evangelism and church planting, don’t neglect to teach the new believers and take them deep into the gospel and build them up so they are stable and strong.

  8. The payoff is multiplication!
